California Campin'
It's not too late to get away for Memorial Day!!!

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have died in military service and was first celebrated in 1868. Today we still remember our fallen heroes through a wide variety of observances many of which feature our precious flag.

For most of us, we celebrate Memorial Day by spending time with those who are precious to us ... our family & friends.

Some campgrounds have special events such as pancake breakfasts and parades to celebrate the holiday -- but all offer lots of wholesome fun and a chance to get away from the cares of our world and enjoy the outdoors.

Celebrate Memorial Day with Camp-California!
As of publication time, these 73 parks across California still had space available for Memorial Day.

New RVing Rewards Discounts Coming!
The Camp-California Camping Guide includes the RVing Rewards card on page 5. To use it you simply show the card and get a discount at participating RV parks or campgrounds. You know which parks honor the card by finding this symbol in their listing.

To improve this program, we plan to develop a statewide discount program that is not limited to campgrounds and RV parks. We are contacting restaurants, amusement parks, retail stores, movie theatres, hair salons, pet supplies stores, etc. and asking them to honor the card, so that as you travel throughout the state or while you are still at home, you can use your RVing REWARDS! card and stretch your valuable dollars.

You can help!! Please use the link below to submit info on local merchants where you would like to save money. Please provide the contact person (i.e. manager, owner, decision maker) and mailing address, and we'll invite them to participate. The discounts will become available once as we have 1,000 merchants in place, (hopefully by Labor Day weekend).

You can send us a suggestion anytime ... just use the link at

Ideas for fun with your kids!

Try these creative ideas for having fun with your kids:

Make Breakfast for Dad! Father's Day is coming up (June 21) and making a breakfast dad likes doesn't have to be hard. Just grate cheese and chop omelete ingredients (cooked sausage or bacon, tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, etc.). Then take a sandwich size zip-lock bag and put in a bit of his favorite ingredients. Beat up 2 eggs and pour them in the bag on top of the ingredients. Repeat for each family member. Submerge bags in large pan of simmering water, until cooked to desired doneness. Avoid allowing the bags to rest on the side of the pan because the bag can melt and allow water inside. When cooked, open bag and your bag omelet easily slides out! Top with salsa, sour cream or your choice of garnishes.

Tickle a Banana Slug! These yellow slimy creatures can be found on the Forest floors generally along California's North and Central Coasts - down to Santa Cruz. They move slowly and are a sight to see!
