Improved Features Make Searches More Effective!

Just last week new features were rolled out at ... and there's more to come.

Several ways to find the perfect park:

  1. Know which region you want to visit? ... Choose it out of the drop down box.
  2. Want to visit Shasta Lake? Put that in the "Distance from Landmark or Address" field.
  3. Know the name of the campground? ... There's a field for that too.
  4. Know what you need at the park? ... Click on the Amenities and Lifestyle Options tab and click the ones you need. Are you looking for a campground with a pool, or playground for the kids and WiFi for you? Be sure to click those before you click "Search"
  5. Reserve a Campsite -- this window lets you indicate the type of campsite or rental unit you need, and your arrival/departure dates. Be sure to select the amenities you need to narrow your search.

With all these options, if you don't find what you're looking for, try broadening your search by choosing fewer amenities, or trying a new arrival date.

Once you get a list of parks you'll notice some new enhancements. 1) You can sort the results several ways to get the list in the order you want. 2) You can read a brief paragraph about the park including their RVing Rewards offer, and see what their "GuestRated" rating is.

3) Now, through the GuestRated ratings, you can see what other RVers thought of a specific RV park or campground. This has only been available for a few days, so many parks are not yet rated. It is important to hover over the letter grade to see details about the rating, and how many ratings the park has received. A "C" rating from one RVer shouldn't carry as much weight as if there have been 25 ratings. And, when you see 25 RVers rated a park an "A" ... that will give you confidence to visit.

We are excited to offer this new program. At last, ratings are in the hands of you and your fellow RVers ... people who actually use these RV parks and campgrounds ... rather than professional rating companies. More enhancements are being developed so that over time, the ratings will become increasingly accurate and meaningful. Be sure to take time to visit after your next camping trip and rate the parks you visited. Or if you've camped recently, rate a park now!

Where in California is this??

Hi! “Camper Rick” here!

Camper Rick
"Camper Rick" &
Mr. Bear!

Well, amazingly, no one got all three locations correct from last month’s “Where in California is this?” I guess it was too difficult. I really thought someone would get all three just from the clues. Yurok Indians – Klamath River; the saloon was probably too tough – you almost had to have been to Columbia State Park to know that one; and, the sculpture (in the desert) – you would have had to have been there as well. But, that’s really what this contest is all about. Each month I am going to see how many of you have been to some of the interesting locations in our great state of California.

So, this month will be a little easier . . . only 2 locations to identify. Again, if more than one person is able to identify the locations correctly, we will award the camping trip to a proclaimed winner via a drawing. Get your answers to me via email by Aug. 8 or you’ll be too late. We will post the answers and announce the winner in next month’s California Campin.' (See answers to last month's photos.)
